On Sunday, members of the Sewing Salon and the Fairfield Woods Branch Library’s Purls of Wisdom Knitting Group tied 215 homemade scarves, two hats and six pairs of mittens on signs, benches and trees outside the downtown library. Roman Nieves, 37, of Sherwood Avenue, was charged with third-degree burglary and third-degree larceny in the Oct. 19 incident, police said.
