Longtime Westwood Teacher And Park Ridge Resident Karen Lee Walz Dies At 71
PARK RIDGE, N.J. -- Karen Lee Walz, of Park Ridge, on Monday, Jan. 2. She was 71.Walz enjoyed a long career in education. She was a kindergarten teacher, taught in the Hand Bell Program and Sign Language Class at Zion Lutheran School, in Westwood, until she retired.
She was an active member and Sunday School teacher at the Pascack Reformed Church. She was a member of the Red Hat Club, sold Mary Kay cosmetics and loved to bake homemade desserts for her family.

HACKENSACK, N.J. -- Hackensack native Alyssa Topping died on Sunday, Jan. 1. She was 28.Born in Hackensack, Topping lived in Elmwood Park and Andover before settling in Sussex.

GARFIELD, N.J. -- Irene H. Puzio, formerly of Garfield, died on Sunday, Jan. 1. She was 81.Born and raised in Wallington, Puzio lived in Garfield for 56 years, before she moved to Pennsylvania six years ago. She had graduated from Pope Pius XII High School, in Passaic.
She was an office administrator with the U.S. Attorneys Office, Department of Justice, in Newark before she retired. She was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Kostka Roman Catholic Church, in Garfield.

PARAMUS, N.J. -- Aniela Litwinowicz, of Paramus, died on Wednesday, Jan. 4. She was 88.Born and raised in Poland, Litwinowicz immigrated to the United States in 1968 and has lived in Paramus since.
A faithful parishioner of Church of the Annunciation in Paramus, she served as a cook for the rectory from 1988-1997. She was a member of Chór, a Polish choir group. She also enjoyed gardening.

Parents, Friends Rush To Help Ramsey Aide Who Suffered Aneurysm
RAMSEY, N.J. -- Pat Kelly spent her days working with children with autism and other special needs -- and she now has a need of her own.
A Nov. 8 aneurysm has, at least for now, taken some of Pat's memory and cognitive skills, according to her sister-in-law Janet Smithson, and Pat will need an in-home aide for a time, when she's comes home.
