Lillian Theresa Makinson, 93, Paramus Resident
PARAMUS, N.J. -- Lillian Theresa Makinson of Paramus, died on Sunday, Jan. 22. She was 93.
Makinson was born in Long Island and spent her first few decades there. She was a civilian employee at Mitchell Air Force Base for 12 years, then worked for both Long Island Lighting Company and Sperry-Rand Corporation, until she retired to raise her family.
"She greatly enjoyed gardening, and sewing, having made most of her own clothes," the funeral home noted. She and her late husband also enjoyed square dancing.

John M. Babich, 70, Dumont Resident
DUMONT, N.J. -- John M. Babich, of Dumont, died on Sunday, Jan. 29. He was 70.
Babich lived most of his life in Bergenfield, before settling in Dumont several years ago. After he graduated from Bergenfield High School, he served in the Army during the Vietnam War as a sergeant, receiving many commendations for his service.

Shirley Mae Scheulen, 84, Longtime Fair Lawn Resident
FAIR LAWN, N.J. -- Shirley Mae Scheulen, a longtime resident of Fair Lawn, died on Saturday, Jan. 28. She was 84.
Born and raised in Mountain View, Scheulen lived in Fair Lawn for more than 60 years. "A faithful member of the Fair Lawn Bible Church, she was a Sunday school teacher, member of the White Cross and did extensive missionary work," information from the funeral home noted.

Lorraine Ercolino, 63, Englewood Resident
ENGLEWOOD, N.J. -- Lorraine Ercolino, of Englewood, died on Sunday, Jan. 29. She was 63.
Born in Jersey City, Ercolino was an accountant at Stepmar Construction, in Leonia, and she also worked at Waterford Towers, in Edgewater.
She is survived by her partner, Ray Testasecca; son Thomas and his wife Stephanie; and granddaughter Myla.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 1, at the A.K. Macagna Funeral Home, 495 Anderson Ave., in Cliffside Park. The memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Albert J. Sarracino, 88, Washington Township Resident
WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. -- Albert J. Sarracino -- a resident of Washington Township, formerly of Hackensack -- died on Friday, Jan. 27. He was 88.
An Army veteran of the Korean War, Sarracino worked for Sierbath in Cliffside Park for many years, before he retired.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Phyllis (Gerardi) Sarracino; siblings Michael Sarracino of Wayne, and Auriello Sarracino and his wife Marie of Woodridge; sisters-in-law Marie DelVecchio and Dolores Vansaders; and nieces, nephews and many close friends.

NORTH ARLINGTON, Viola M. Sporczyk, of North Arlington, died on Sunday, Jan. 29. She was 94.
Sporczyk is survived by her daughter, Arleen Marino; siblings Louis Mangieri, Marie Ingenito, Rae Berry and Anna Beahn; and grandchild Jesse Marino. She was preceded by her husband, Joseph Sporczyk, and her grandson, Jude Marino.

CLIFTON, N.J. -- Tony Francis Amico, of Clifton, died on Sunday, Jan. 29. He was 90.
Born in Passaic, Amico was a Navy veteran of World War II. After his service, he was invited to try out for the St. Louis Cardinals, and he remained a lifelong baseball fan. He worked at Passaic General Hospital for 12 years.
